Yin Yoga

Guided by Soulful Lineage

My approach to Yin Yoga has been profoundly shaped by my beloved mentor, Sagel Urlacher — a teacher of incredible depth, grace, and soulful presence. Sagel’s work blends ancient Eastern wisdom, mindfulness, and compassionate awareness in a way that feels both angelic and grounded. She has studied deeply in the lineage of Thich Nhat Hanh, and carries forward his peaceful, heart-centered teachings through every breath and cue.

It is with great love and reverence that I offer what I’ve learned through her: a practice of stillness, truth, and sacred self-care.

Yin Yoga & Meridian Lines

One of the most powerful aspects of Yin Yoga is its connection to the meridian lines of Traditional Chinese Medicine — energetic pathways that run throughout the body, influencing everything from digestion and immunity to emotional well-being and spiritual vitality.

Each Yin posture stimulates specific meridians, helping to:
       •       Release blockages and support the free flow of qi (life force energy)
       •       Restore balance between yin and yang organs
       •       Heal the body from the inside out — physically, emotionally, energetically
       •       Support specific intentions (e.g., heart-opening, liver detox, grounding through the kidneys)

In every class, I weave in this meridian wisdom to create intentional sequences that speak not just to muscles and joints — but to your energy system, emotions, and spirit.

Yin Yoga is like a long, cozy exhale for your body and soul. Unlike the fast-paced hustle of power yoga or the cardio chaos of a spin class, Yin invites you to slow… waaaay… down. You’ll sink into gentle floor poses—sometimes for 3 to 5 minutes (or more!)—giving your muscles, fascia, joints, and even your emotional baggage time to stretch, soften, and let go.

Think of it as a love letter to your connective tissue… with a few sighs and giggles along the way.

The Benefits of Yin Yoga:
        •       Flexibility (in body and life): Targets deep connective tissues and helps open up tight hips, hamstrings, and that stubborn space between your ears.
        •       Joint health: Poses put gentle stress on joints and ligaments—just enough to signal your body’s brilliant inner healer to send in the “tune & lube” crew: hydration, nutrients, and magical ground substances (yes, that’s a real term!) that nourish, repair, and rejuvenate your tissues.
        •       Emotional release: Ever cried in pigeon pose? Welcome to healing.
        •       Stress relief: Slows your nervous system down to “peaceful forest glade” level.
        •       Mindfulness & stillness: Cultivates presence, patience, and the superpower of doing absolutely nothing—and feeling amazing about it.

It’s not just stretching…

It’s story time, soul talk, and a smidge of sass. Maybe you’ll meet your inner child in dragon pose. Maybe you’ll nap during Savasana and call it “meditation.”

Either way, Yin Yoga with Lena is like tea with a wise, funny friend who knows how to hold space—and hand you a bolster.
